Google Business Profile will be New Name for Google My Business

Google is rebranding their Google My Business listing to Google Business Profile. What this means to business owners and customers alike is that it is much easier to make some basic changes to your information when people are searching for your business.

Claiming Your Business Profile on Search and Maps

Instead of having to login to your Google My Business profile to change hours, update photos, edit info and posts and reply to reviews you can do it all from Google Search or Google Maps.

Keep in mind you need to be signed into a Google account that manages that info. Be wary though, customers may make changes too, so keep an eye on your info and make sure it is accurate. Much like Wikipedia, it is more of a community profile, not just what the business want to portray.

Google Renames Google My Business to Google Business Profile for SMBs

Some of the features in Google Business Profile include inserting your products or services. For example, if your business is retail and sell different doohickeys and widgets. You can upload pictures of the product, name it, enter its category, give descriptions and list a range in price.

Our thought here is that Google wants you to stay on Google to find everything you want in one place. According to Matt Madrigal, VP/GM of Merchant Shopping at Google “Google will show more results that include links to retailers, blogs and review videos from YouTube”

What are YouTube Shorts?

YouTube Shorts are YouTube’s effort towards short-form video. Similar to platforms like TikTok, short-form video has gained popularity in recent years due to it’s lightweight and catchy nature. You can create a YouTube Short by uploading a video, filming the video within the App, or sampling available content from other YouTube creators, then using the Shorts editor to add music, text, and more. Keep in mind, if you sample content or music from another creator and that creator deletes that video, any Shorts that sampled the deleted video will automatically be set to “unlisted” and scheduled for deletion in 30 days.

The Yellow Pages were once the fat book of solutions to many people’s problems. Whether it was a locksmith, a contractor, a seamstress, or a dog sitter you needed – The Yellow Pages were the primary business directory you depended on for finding help when you needed it, but not anymore.
