Check Out How Social Media Marketing Has Evolved

October 26, 2022 by Advertising

Social Media marketing has evolved so much over the years and continues to grow. In today’s corporate world, most businesses have a branded social media profile across all major channels. Whether you want to raise awareness of your business’s brand or attract talent to apply for opportunities, social media is one of the best ways to start conversations and be transparent with your audience. Let’s take a look at how this all began. In this article we will go over the past, present, and future of social media marketing.

Past

When social media first started, many marketers regarded social media marketing as a fad that would most likely fade away with time. However, the growth of Facebook and Twitter pushed more businesses to develop social media marketing strategies.

In the early days of the internet, the first documented social media platform Bulletin Board Messaging, along with emails and chat rooms were the only ways to be socially connected with your peers. As the internet became more developed, social network platforms emerged including Six Degrees, which was launched in 1997. In the U.S. Six Degrees is widely believed to be the first social network website where people could upload profile pictures, connect with other people outside their groups, and make new friends. However, the lack of people using the internet at the time meant networks were limited. This leads us into the present social media platform.

Present

Today, social media marketing is one of the most important ways for businesses to connect with their target audiences and potential consumers. Social media is growing rapidly in terms of its reach and impact. It is said  that  75% of internet users use social media to research products (DataReportal, 2022). Many consumers are also utilizing social media networks to look for reviews and recommendations. This has cut the consumer journey in half by making it much easier for people to discover new products and services. However, many move from awareness and consideration to purchase something quicker. A Deloitte report found that a third of social media users are more likely to make a purchase on the same day as using social media, and consumers who are influenced by social media are four times more likely to spend more on purchases.

Future

The future of social media marketing is very exciting to think about. With cutting edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality, social media users are about to get more immersed in the social experience than ever before

Virtual reality is changing many trends, and social media marketing is no different. It has opened up a new source for marketing, and in the coming years, we will see businesses making changes to their social media content strategy to account for VR.

Artificial Intelligence will impact the future of social media marketing in many ways. One of these ways is in content creation. In an article written by Ron Stefanski, states “AI tools offer data-driven insights and feedback to content creators” By utilizing AI in the future it will help to make the content creation process much easier and more effective. This will be the case because it will provide data-driven feedback while creating content, as well as assisting in content profiling, topic inspiration, content accuracy, and much more.

Conclusion

History has shown that social media and marketing evolves at a fast pace, that’s an ever-changing landscape. With internet and mobile phone usage improving even further around the globe, the industry’s growth will not slow down anytime soon. Technology has tremendously changed how we communicate with one another. And will keep changing but it is important that you utilize it right when it comes to talking about your business and your products and services.

5 Types of Content Every Business Needs and Why!

September 20, 2022 by Advertising

Today’s customers are hungry for information and we are the ones to give it to them. How many times do you ask someone a question and if they don’t know the answer they “Google It”? I think in my case it is at least 8 out of 10. Then why not give the customer what they want. Think about the shows you watch. Does your spouse, sibling, parent or colleague watch the same things? Probably not. Well the same is probably true about your customer. They like to get their content in different ways. That is why every business needs to create different types of content to reach a variety of people.

5 Types of Content Every Business Needs

  1. Video is and has been one of the most powerful tools for reaching customers. The best way to capitalize on video content is to integrate it with your other marketing efforts. When done strategically, videos can be used to help increase engagement with your blog posts. They can also be used in social media and email newsletters. Video has something none of the other types of content has. It creates a huge impact through sight, sound motion and emotions.
  2. Podcasts are another form of content. With podcasts you are usually reaching that person on the go. Whether they are driving in the car, working on a project or baking a pie, (yum) these people are very interested in the topic(s) the podcaster is discussing. Many podcast are for entertainment purposes, but it is also a great way to teach someone a new skill or educate them on a specific topic. In 2022 over 17 million people listen to podcasts. The audience is still growing and is a great way to connect to a captive audience.
  3. Social Media is an important form of content in an unobtrusive way.  As a marketer, you need to understand how your consumers or audience absorb your content. It’s been proven that posting and sharing videos on social media is the way to go. Transparent and interactive content is key! Social media is social for a reason! People do not want to be sold on Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok, etc… They want to be entertained. Posting your content should be fun. You can sprinkle in a few educational post and deals, but for the most part, just keep the platform as a way to entertain! We know it takes time to develop and post social media, so why not use a social media poster to schedule and plan your posts. Using a social media planner can increase your traffic by 192%.
  4. Infographics are a great way of getting out content that may be boring. This is a great way of sharing a lot of boring stats or steps on how to do something. Think about the last time you bought something that needed to be assembled. Did it come with directions? Were they all written or did they have diagrams of how to assemble the product. This is the same thing; people can follow the step by step directions or absorb stats in a much easier way with infographics.
  5. Finally, we get to the old tried and true blog. One thing is certain. Being consistent when blogging is very important. If someone comes to your blog or website and sees the last blog is from 2019, they feel as though that business is not up on the latest and greatest ideas or care about their business. I know all of us are very busy, but it is important to educate prospect and show you are an authoritative figure in your industry. This can be accomplished by posting regular, informative information on your business or in your industry.

In summary, it may be hard to do all of these types of content at once and run a business in the process, but if you pick 2 or 3 of them and are consistent with them you will keep your customers informed and may even get some new ones.

Needless to say, if you are not using some of these in your content strategy, you are missing a great opportunity to engage your target audience, expand your brand and boost sales.

If you would like help with choosing the correct content to post get in touch!

Five Reasons Why Every Business Should Optimize For Voice Search

July 19, 2022 by Advertising

People are using voice search technology daily, whether in the car, at work, or at home. They have become an essential part of daily life, even automating homes. According to Comscore, 48% of the United States internet users own at least one smart speaker device. This is up 11% from the year before, just showing how prominent voice search is becoming.

Voice search is essentially searching the internet through speech rather than through text. Searching via an Amazon Alexa, Siri, Cortana, Google Home, Smart TVs and streaming services are all examples of voice search assistants.

Voice assistant users account for 3.1 billion voice searches each month. With more people using voice search every day, it is important that your business is optimized for it.

Missing out on those voice searches means missing out on a lot of business. From an Ad Age article, “the ability to act on a ‘call to action’ without opening up yet another tab or picking up your phone while leaning back can be extremely powerful.”

Here are 5 reasons why you should optimize your business for voice searches.

1. Boost Traffic and Generate Leads

With over three billion voice searches done each month, voice searches can generate a lot of traffic.

If a customer cannot find your site because your site is not optimized for voice search, they will find the competitor instead. Optimizing for voice searches helps your business to stand out among competitors.

2. Build Loyalty Among Customers

Voice technology is not only getting better at understanding what the consumer is saying, but also their end game. It becomes seamless. Voice search makes an easy experience for the consumer, making their lives easier, in turn increasing loyalty and boosting sales.

Using voice search technology, you can also create the responses that your customer will hear when asking a question. Having quick and easy answers to a list of FAQs will make your customers more likely to choose you.

3. Creates A Mobile Friendly Option

Consumers today are constantly on their phones. Even in the car and at the workplace consumers use voice searches to make purchases.

A more mobile friendly option for your customers boosts your traffic and leads, and mobile users are three times more likely to use voice search. Voice search is a perfect mobile friendly option that ensures consumers can find your brand, however they are searching for it.

4. Places A Larger Emphasis on Local SEO

If you are a local small business, voice search is perfect for you. 58% of consumers use voice search to find local businesses, with searches like “best restaurants near me”. Voice search prioritizes local listings.

46% of voice searches each day are for local businesses. Making sure your Google Business Profile and other information are accurate can really boost your traffic, especially if you are looking for local traffic.

5. Voice Search Is Here to Stay

Voice search is not going anywhere. It has been steadily on the rise and is integrating into consumer lives. Optimizing your business for voice search sets the foundation and makes it easier in the long run to stay up to date on voice search trends and make minor changes.

Embrace voice search and make your web presence optimized for it by getting listed on all virtual assistant directories, such as Alexa, Siri, Cortana, Google Assistant and more. If you need help submitting your business to these services, contact us.

Why Every Business Needs a Website Audit

June 27, 2022 by Advertising

There are many reasons a business should get a periodic audit of their website, but the main purpose is to give a complete view of the health and wellbeing of your website. Just as all of us should go in for a yearly medical exam, your website should have its annual exam too. This will let you know the health of the website and show you any problems or issues that have arisen since the last time your website had been tested.

There are a few different audits you can do your website, but the types of audits we are going to focus on is the technical, SEO and social media.

The technical website audit is the basic and essential one to make sure the website is working properly. A technical website audit would test for a few key points which would let you know if anything was mechanically wrong with the website. These would be things like broken links, load time, mobile friendliness, indexing, txt errors, https status and crawling. This would be the basic things needed for the website to work properly.

The Search Engine Optimization audit can let you know how your website more visible to users. One thing that really will help with examining this would be to install Google Analytics on your website. Google Analytics will allow you to see many key performance indicators such as site traffic, new visitors to the website, time spent on site, pages visited, devices used and much more.

You can set up goals and conversions in the analytics to assess how your KPI’s are doing.  Things you should be looking for on your SEO audit are making sure your meta data is correct, detecting any duplicate content, looking at internal links, keywords chosen and headings optimized.

Finally, you may want to looks at your social media channels and make sure they are optimized. Organic social media is the electronic version of word of mouth advertising. Make sure you have your social media icons on your website. You should claim all your social media channels whether you are using them right now or not.

When surveying a social media audit some of the key factors you would want to look at are how many fans you have, the consistency of posting, engagement with fans and interactions with customers and prospects. Also, a major factor in elevating your electronic word of mouth is getting reviews. People would much rather see what others are saying about you opposed to you tooting your own horn.

In summary, there are many more audits you could do, such as competitor analysis, conversion, content analysis and user experience. These are all great audits to examine as well, but the technical, SEO and social audits to lay the foundation for a good web presence.

Tips to Ensure a Great LinkedIn Presence

February 24, 2022 by Advertising

When business owners think about social media, platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and Twitter come to mind. What they don’t understand is how a LinkedIn presence is one of the most powerful social network for any business. LinkedIn is where the business owner can not only showcase their company, but promote their brand and make connections with their colleagues and target clients.

Why a LinkedIn Presence is Important

LinkedIn is where you will find over 722 million users who are in the market to connect to others like them. One way to build your businesses brand on LinkedIn is to set up a business page. You can let potential partners and clients know what your business is about and who it can help. When setting up your business page, make sure you are being consistent with all your other properties. Make sure you ensure your brand consistency. Your logo, business description, mission statement and target customer should be the main information on your page. You can link your website to your page, have a map of your location, promote your specialties and more.

Once you created your company page, you should focus the info towards your target client. An example of this is if you are going after business owners, you should write information on how you have helped fellow business owners with their problems and how your company can solve these problems. Many companies do not target specific personas and other industries because they feel their customers are everyone. It is good to target the businesses you would like to work for.

LinkedIn2

Once you have your target audience in mind, you should post information and article that addresses their concerns. You can not only do this with images and text, you can also use rich content to reach them. This would consist of videos, podcasts, white papers and more. Show your knowledge in your field. I always think when posting something of Google E-A-T acronym of expertise, authority and trustworthiness. You can do this by posting original content or mixing it up with curated content of information that is relevant at the time.

LinkedIn 3

Another way with ensuing a good business LinkedIn presence is by joining groups in your industry or in the industries you are targeting.  Get involved in the groups discussions and contribute to the conversation. I am sure you will learn a lot by joining groups as there are many knowledgeable people willing to share their expertise and experiences. Build relationships within these groups and you never know when they will need your service or more importantly refer you to another person who does.

The finally, when all is said and done invite your friends and colleagues to follow your page It may take a while to build up a following, but nothing that is worth anything doesn’t

We have been in the industry for over a decade and have gone through multiple changes in SEO. What works today, may not work a few months down the road. If you would like help setting up your LinkedIn company page, please reach out to us.
