Manage Your Directory Listings Before They Manage You

October 19, 2021 by Advertising

Search Engine Optimization Tips

Using directory websites to effectively develop a 5-star digital reputation is one of the most important things you can do to digitally market your business. Getting your house in order (your website, your social media accounts and online business directories) is a good place to start. Having a consistent and diverse reputation management plan will keep your business and brand on topic and on the positive side of your audience.

However, ending there is not going to help you create the lead generation that will help you to grow your online presence. The key to marketing success is constantly updating, adapting, measuring, analyzing and tweaking your strategy to better optimize your results, and this includes your online directories.

Let’s discuss business directories and how they play a huge part in getting your business a strong online presence.

Business Directories

If you want your company to rise in rankings on search engine results pages, take the time to claim your business directories as soon as possible (Like yesterday, soon). Think of it as yellow pages in a phone book. You want potential customers to know everything about your business in the most accessible way to get more leads. That’s why online directories are so important for your business, because they are the online phonebook.

Things like your company address, phone number, email address and website link should be consistent and updated regularly so any potential customer or client can find your business right away. Some popular websites to list your company information include Google My Business, Manta, Yellow Pages, Yelp, Facebook, Bing Places and Better Business Bureau.

Taking the time to claim your local business listings comes with many more benefits for your company. Besides helping your customers find you, you are also able to reach more people who are looking for specific services. How’s that for a FREE advertising opportunity? Yes, you read it right FREE, business directories are one of the most cost-effective marketing tools ever.

Needless to say, being properly listed in directories and using adaptive search engine optimization can be a game changer when trying to grow your business.  Your business needs to be found!

Top 7 SEO Tips for Local Business

April 19, 2021 by Advertising

Top 7 SEO Tips for Local Business

Have you heard of SEO (Search Engine Optimization), and know that it can be beneficial for your business, but just don’t know where to start? Here is a checklist of our top 7 SEO tips to show you what areas you should focus on, what needs to be optimized, and what you need to do to fix any problems you may encounter to best position yourself for local search traffic and business.

1. Start with a comprehensive audit

When you create a complete snapshot of your current SEO efforts, along with an understanding of your competition, you’re able to curate a plan that is going to be more effective and sustainable. We recommend that you conduct regular SEO audits and maintain an organized worksheet to record and track your progress.

2. Optimize your Website & Landing Page

When it comes to organic and local search, having a properly optimized site is more important than ever before. Organic signals are now tied into the local algorithm and having a properly optimized website will help you outrank your competition.

3. Correct Basic Location Information

Correct all discrepancies and inconsistencies in your business Name, Address, Phone number (NAP) and other related information. Also, ask questions about previous business names or previous experience with SEO or SEO penalties.

4. Seek Reviews & Reputation Management

Reviews have a direct impact on local search rankings. They can make or break a local business regardless of how well their keywords can rank. So, you’ll want to spend some time acquiring them in a manner consistent with the directory or service, such as Google, Facebook, or Yelp.  For any directory, we strongly discourage paying for reviews.

5. Analyze and Maintain “Google My Business” Page

Find the proper Google My Business (GMB) URL and record it in your Local SEO Audit Spreadsheet. Follow Google’s guidelines to assure your business NAP, category, and subcategories, and other items are represented properly on your Google My Business listing.

6. Create Organic Link Building & Avoid Penalties

You need to keep the site out of a penalty short term and long term. You need to identify any potential problems and prepare yourself to make effective business decisions. Google penalties can be brutal, and recovery is not a walk in the park.

7. Analyze your Social Profiles

Review your profiles – Facebook, Google My Business, Foursquare, Twitter, Linkedin, Youtube, Instagram, etc.- and verify they have consistent branding, NAP consistency, high-quality photos, a business description, positive reviews, effective geo-targeting, and other elements in accordance with the guidelines of the platform. It’s very important that you post regularly to these platforms for them to be useful in your SEO efforts.

At Advertising is Simple, we consistently stay up-to-date on the most effective methods of SEO, that’s why we call it Adaptive SEO. What works today, may not work a few months down the road. We monitor your advertising results through A/B testing and in-depth analytics to get you the highest rate of return on your advertising dollars.

We believe local SEO plays a big part in the digital marketing arena and we have no doubts it will remain for many marketing light years to come! 5 LinkedIn Business Tips to Claim Your Share of the Marketplace

Over the years, LinkedIn has become a resourceful platform not only for individuals looking for work but also for businesses trying to market their brand. Since this specific medium has always been rooted in networking, its marketing potential turns out to be so valuable these days.

Is your company actively present on LinkedIn?

There are many ways you can market your brand online. Here’s how you can use LinkedIn, the largest business networking platform in the world, to increase your share of the marketplace:

5 LinkedIn Business Tips to Claim Your Share of the Marketplace

  1.  Complete and Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile – The first impressions are everything. Not to mention they affect your search ranking score. Do yourself a favor now and make sure your work experience is up to date so others can quickly find out about your company, products or services you have to offer. Don’t forget to add you company profile to the page as well!
  2. Connect with Others – While you should link up with those you already know, LinkedIn is a networking platform so don’t shy away from accepting invites from new people! The more you expand your network, the more marketing opportunities you get!
  3. Be Creative – There’s over 500 million active users on LinkedIn. Find a way to stand out! Write a compelling bio, share insightful articles, include videos from your business and don’t forget to include a call to action!
  4. Pay It Forward – Recommending others can be the greatest thing that ever happened to your business. A good old ‘word of mouth’ is still a powerful way to provide testimonials while marketing your business at the same time!
  5. Join Targeted Groups – LinkedIn groups are a great way to focus on your niche. Use them to connect with others, spread your message and brand your business!

There you go! Use these 5 tips and take your LinkedIn profile to another level! If you need help managing your business account, don’t hesitate to contact Advertising Is Simple.

5 Tips on Protecting Your SMB from Cybercriminals

November 28, 2018 by Advertising

5 Tips on Protecting Your SMB from Cybercriminals

Just because you are a small to medium-sized business (SMB) does not mean you are not a target for online criminals phishing attacks.  In fact, it’s the opposite.  Being a small to medium-sized business makes you an easier target for cybercriminals.  While targeting a larger corporation may lead to more lucrative payouts, these larger corporations typically have IT departments that catch these attacks.  Typically smaller businesses do not have full-time IT help that assists them in their cybersecurity.  Cyber-attacks will mostly be initiated through email, here are 5 tips on protecting yourself from cybercriminals.

1.    Attention to Detail:

You may receive an email from what appears to be a co-worker or even superior.  This email may have some odd request like requesting an invoice or for you to send the company’s credit card information to pay a vendor.  In this situation, check the email address for any characters that are out of place.  Cybercriminals will attempt to mimic the email addresses of your co-workers to try to deceive you into releasing valuable company information.  In the event of this happening, contact to the supposed sender via telephone or in person to question their request.

 2. Download a Free Anti-Phishing Toolbar To Your Browser.

There are plenty of free Anti-Phishing browser extensions available.  Some are only available for certain browsers, causing you to have to download multiple extensions to different browsers and learning how each one works.  If you are looking for an Anti-Phishing browser extension that is compatible for Firefox, Chrome, and Safari we suggest Bitdefender Trafficlight. This extension protects from phishing attacks, filters out malware, identify trackers, and scans links.

3. Be Careful With Your Browser Updates.

While It is always important to update your browser, you must be cautious with your updates.  These updates are created to protect you from online phishing and malware, and phishing predators are fully aware of these.  You may receive a notification telling you it’s time to update your browser or a new version of your browser is available for download.  Do not blindly trust these and automatically download them.  Simply take the time and perform a simple internet search to see if it is, in fact, a true browser update.  If it is not, I can almost guarantee you are downloading a nasty malware onto your computer.

4. Frequently Back up Your Data!

In a world with cybercriminals attacking small businesses with ransomware, backing up your data has never been more important.  A ransomware attack encrypts your hard drive, locking you out of your computer and work files.  The cybercriminal will then ransom access to your files in the form of a crypto currency like Bitcoin.  If you have backed up your data to a remote hard drive this attacks will leave you unaffected.  Simply back up the existing backup files and wipe your primary hard drive clean.

5. Question Authority.

Cybercriminals may attempt to target you by posing as an authoritative figure in the digital world.  This could be them pretending to be Google or Microsoft telling you an update is available for your Gmail or Outlook account.  Much like browser updates, do your due diligence to conclude the authenticity of the requests.

Navigating the cyber world can be a difficult and intimidating task, especially when it comes to your cybersecurity.  Not only is Advertising Is Simple here to build and spread your digital brand, we are here as a source of knowledge for protecting your digital property, allowing you to spend the time necessary to run your business.
