Here’s Why Traditional Advertising Is So Important Amid the National Lockdown

May 4, 2020 by Advertising

Why Traditional Advertising Is So Important Amid the National Lockdown

Timing is an important factor when considering how to market your business. While COVID-19 and the national lockdown forced a lot of small businesses to close down, we can’t help but think how the traditional advertising is still a force to be reckoned with. Here’s why.

Radio Advertising

If you’re looking to reach a local audience at a more affordable cost, nothing beats radio advertising. It connects with the right people at the right time. It is easy to build a strong presence on the radio because people actually listen to radio ads and they don’t do the channel surfing the same way TV viewers do during program breaks.

According to the Nielsen’s 2019 Audio Today Report, which was recently made available, 272 million Americans listen to traditional radio every week, an increase of 7 million or about 2.5 percent, from 2016’s figures.

It’s been proven that radio provides a friendly environment for advertisers and the consumers respond positively to ads they hear on the radio. Believe it or not, Radio continues to be the number one mass reach medium, topping both TV and internet.

Businesses with a local target market really have no need to advertise on the national level. They should consider taking their radio advertising to regional and local stations.

Local radio stations tend to be an important way for the surrounding community to stay informed on events and news. Businesses can more easily connect to the community and their target customers by advertising on these stations. Most local radio station listeners are loyal and engage with their favorite station by calling in for contests, making comments or music requests. That means that if you advertise regularly, you’ll be better able to brand your business and create brand awareness.

Here’s an example of a radio ad we converted into a video promoting some of our local businesses:

TV Advertising

For decades now, TV advertising has been a very effective way to reach and engage with potential customers. Not to mention, local cable ads are very affordable. With the use of both audio and visual effects, TV ads create a mixture of motion and emotion. TV creates a more powerful impact than either of the two by themselves. That’s why television commercials can transmit more information to the viewer.

But that’s not it. When done right, video advertising enables you to display your product, demonstrate its use and the advantages of buying it. It can also help businesses connect emotionally with potential customers, which is so important in today’s climate.

Here’s an example of a local TV ad for one of our clients:

Multi-Screen Advertising

Did you know that the average US adult spends 78 thousand hours of the life watching TV? Knowing that statistic, it’s hard not to think that businesses should still be investing their marketing budgets in TV advertising. There’s a great opportunity out there to reach target audiences by being where the intended audience is hanging out. Not to mention that when you combine Television and Digital Advertising, you’re more likely to increase your ads impact.

Internet advertising will not replace traditional media, it will compliment them. – Jeff I. Richards

This type of advertising allows for more specifically targeting geographic and demographic areas, meaning you’re spending your advertising dollars on reaching your most likely customers.

Facebook Advertising Tips & Best Practices

June 19, 2018 by Advertising

Facebook Advertising Tips

Over the years, Facebook has proven to be the top social media platform to use for marketing and advertising purposes. Many businesses today know that by sharing relevant, engaging content, they can reach and build organic relationships with potential customers.

While there’s many ways you can use Facebook for your business, probably the most powerful and rewarding feature to focus on is Facebook Advertising. In today’s post, we’re going to discuss how to leverage Fb Ads in order to get the best return on your investment.

Facebook Advertising Tips & Best Practices:

  1. Target the Right Audience – Depending on the ad you create, you can reach millions of people but it doesn’t mean much if you don’t target the right audience. To determine who might want to engage with your content the most, look into Facebook’s Audience Insights. Make sure you pay attention to what other pages your target audience likes, what are their interests, job titles and what platforms they are engaging on.
  2. Design an Appealing Landing Page – Getting potential customers to click on your ad is just a start. Making sure they want to stay on your site to sign up for the offer is another thing. If you’re serious about getting good results from your Facebook Advertising campaign, design an appealing landing page that will make the deal so irresistible, the targeted audience would feel like missing out if they didn’t go for it. Things to remember when designing an appealing landing page: know your campaign’s goal (lead generation, sales, brand awareness, etc.), include engaging visuals, stay on brand and get rid of any distractions.
  3. Look into Lead Ad Advertising – With Facebook Lead Ad targeting, you can reach the people most likely to be interested in your business and submit your form, so you can efficiently reach high-quality leads on Facebook. By clicking your lead ad, customers will see a form that’s already filled with info they’ve shared with Facebook—like their name, number, or email. Once you capture your leads, you can use the contact info to create Custom Audiences and Lookalike Audiences to remarket and find new customers.FB Lead Ads
  4. Create an Eye-Catching Image – When you’re designing a Facebook Ad image, you have to meet certain requirements in order for the content to be approved. That’s because Facebook wants your content to stand out among others. To create an appealing image, don’t overcrowd it with a text copy (use Text Overlay Tool), look beyond the stock photo and always keep it on brand (colors, fonts, message, landing page, etc.)
  5. Utilize Video in Your Facebook Ads – Video seems to hold a special place in the Facebook’s feed, so don’t be afraid to use it to your advantage! Video content has proven to bring better results and it’s simply because people love to watch vs. Read. If you’re able to grab your potential customer’s attention within the first 3-4 seconds, you’re golden.
  6. Monitor Your Campaign and Adjust It in Real Time. – Don’t wait until the ad is over. Make sure to check your results frequently to ensure you’re getting the most out of the money you invested. If the existent campaign is not resonating with your audience, optimize your call to action or update your audience targeting requirements to reach the right people.

7 Key Elements for Pay-Per-Click Advertising

December 14, 2017 by Advertising

If you’re looking for immediate results, implementing Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising is a great Internet marketing tool to utilize to bring traffic to your website. It’s also important to realize that these campaigns need to be properly setup and closely monitored to confirm that they are working effectively. There are 7 Key Elements to keep in mind when setting up and managing your PPC campaign.

7 Key Elements for Pay-Per-Click Advertising

7-key-elements-ppc

1.      Begin with Keyword Research

Keyword research forms the foundation of your campaign. Taking the time to do the proper research for the keywords that are relevant to your campaign will ensure that your campaign is going in the right direction from the start. You can use tools such as the Keyword Planner tool provided by Google to do research on the keywords you have in mind for you campaign, and to find suggested keywords that you may have not considered.

2.      Well Crafted Ad Copy

Your ad copy should be well thought out and relevant to the message of your campaign. The ad copy should be short, direct, and include a clear call-to-action so that users know exactly what action it is that they will be taking once they click on your ad. Using ad extensions is another great approach to stand out amongst your competitors. Ad extensions tend to drive the efficiency of your ad by allowing users to choose from multiple options on how to learn more or contact your business. Phone calls, site links and structure snippets are just a few of the ad extensions that you can utilize.

3.      Practice A/B Testing

By creating multiple ads and testing them against each other, you will be able to analyze and improve your copy to generate better campaign results. Some copy resonates with your target audience better than others, and A/B testing is a great way to find out which ads could be more beneficial to your campaign.

4.      Bid Management

Monitoring your bid activity will help you deliver reliable a Cost-Per-Acquisition (CPA). CPA is the amount of money it costs for a customer to make the desired conversion that is set for the campaign. This could be filling out a form, making a purchase or whichever valuable action you have set up your campaign for.

5.      Landing Page Relevancy

The landing page for your campaign needs to be relevant to the ad that you are promoting. Not only does this create a consistent transition for users when moving from your ad to the landing page, it also has a positive impact on your ad’s ranking when it appears in search listings. Google wants to make sure that its users are getting the best experience possible when entering a query on their search engine, so they give more favorable rankings to those that use landing pages that directly reflect the ad that they are connected to.

6.      Hone Your Call-to-Action

Include a visible call-to-action on your landing page. It needs to be obvious to customers what their next step should be in their path to purchase. Whether you want users to sign up for a newsletter, fill out a contact form or make a purchase that action needs to be front and center on your landing page along with applicable details to explain why engaging in this conversion will benefit them.

7.      Measure, Tweak, Improve

It is imperative that you consistently measure the success of your campaign. By monitoring your campaign on a regular basis, you can determine which parts of your campaign are working and which parts are not. Once you identify these success and failures, you can adjust your campaign accordingly to improve your results in the future.

5 Secret Steps to Gaining an Edge on Your Competitors

May 9, 2017 by Denise Bernstein

The Secret Steps To Gaining An Edge On Your Competitors

Every business industry has to contend with competitors – it is just the nature of a global world where companies can reach consumers, no matter where they are located.

While this can be detrimental, it also could be beneficial. Think on it a moment; competitors make your business work harder to retain and stand out with customers. This can only serve to motivate your business to be its best in order to compete.

To remain relevant and profitable, your business goal should be to analyze and improve customer service in order to gain trust and loyalty. Fail to meet this goal and you could lose customers to the competition.

At Advertising Is Simple in Delaware, we understand how competitive the marketplace can be. That is why we have created this infographic on ‘5 Steps to Gaining an Edge on Your Competitor’.

Here are 5 Steps to help you gain an Edge on your Delaware Business competitors:

     1. Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Wall

Pay No Attention to the Man Behind the Curtain

While it may seem that your competitor has a deep, dark and guarded secret that makes them the king of the industry – this is a mere illusion. Take a good long look at all the ingredients that they use to market and cater to their customers. Spend some time analyzing their methodology and soon enough their tactics will reveal themselves.

     2. Go Undercover:

5 Ways to gain and edge on your Delaware Business-Go Under Cover

A great way to discover a competitor’s strengths and weaknesses is to visit them every few months to experience their customer service in person.

While some might consider this undercover surveillance underhanded, I consider it out right smart business. Comparing yourself to the competition not only points out their weaknesses, it points out your own.

Sometimes it is hard to see things from the customer’s point of view. Putting yourself in their shoes may cause certain revelations on how your business can gain that competitive edge. This, in turn, will help in the overall success of your business.

Another way to analyze some of the top ranking competition is to look at the meta data on their website – look at the keywords, titles, and descriptions that they are using which may be leading to their higher ranking with search engines.

You can ‘View Page Source’ of any website with the ‘right click’ of a mouse. In most cases you’ll be able to tell a lot about what types of SEO methods are leading to their success.

   4. Actually Use the Data:

Over $20 Billion dollars is spent on marketing research each year in the U.S. Marketing research entails asking potential consumers what they think about a certain product, service or company.

Why spend the money if you’re not going to use the results to improve customer experience? Take into account what they like and don’t like about your product or service in order to gain their business.

   5. Stay Focused:

Finally, competitive research is beneficial up to a point. If you find yourself fixating on the competition to the detriment of your business, stop and focus on what you need to do to improve your company.

Small Businesses Making Big Impression With Content Marketing

June 7, 2016 by Advertising

Small business owners who rigorously promote their business are aware of how difficult it is to compete with the competition, especially if they are larger. For one, their marketing budgets are often much smaller than the advertising and branding resources that a larger company typically has at its disposal.

That shouldn’t stop them. Spending more money on advertising doesn’t necessarily make for winning more customers. A well-designed Content Marketing Plan can level the playing field for them.

Getting all employees on board for a cohesive battle plan can make a small business’ marketing efforts successful. A unified front on all aspects of a marketing campaign can help to better brand and make your business an authority in its industry.

Many companies are jumping in feet first to content marketing, adding tons of content to an already congested information highway. We at Advertising Is Simple advise against randomly creating content that nobody sees.

Instead, we suggest you take the time to identify your Ideal Customer and speak directly to the challenges that they face in order to give valuable and relevant answers and solutions to solve those challenges.

For example, if your business provides business travel services and you discover that many small businesses are under the impression that it is too expensive to use a corporate travel agency. You should publish content that speak to their fears of spending too much for travel by showing them how you can provide discounted prices, flight upgrades, free hotel breakfasts,  room upgrades. Show them the value of the travel tools that you have at your disposal.

While there is a wide variety of ways to add quality, relevant content, many business owners do not know where or how to begin content marketing. This complimentary eBook is full of useful ways to make your Content Marketing efforts a success.
